Standing at the Vanguard with Furthest Death
Furthest Death, or FD, takes its name from the concept of advancing despite risk. The name draws inspiration from the notion of avant garde, originally describing soldiers positioned at the front lines. At its core, FD is about leading the way and embracing risk.
Founded by Sanggook Lee, FD draws inspiration from military clothing and equipment. Each collection blends these elements with influences from punk, rock, avant garde, and minimalism, featuring leather, lacing, and structured silhouettes throughout.
Military clothing is often associated with masculine styles and substantial silhouettes. FD reinterprets these references in a gender-neutral way, designing pieces that transcend traditional gender boundaries. The collections frequently explore contrasts, juxtaposing strong, structured shapes with softer details and blending vintage inspiration with contemporary elements.
These themes also resonate in the brand’s bags and accessories. The DE ARMOR BAG, for instance, is shaped after the armor of a crocodile. FD regards the crocodile’s scales not merely as ornamentation but as a natural defense, refined over millions of years. This notion of durability is expressed in the bag’s very structure.
The GENERAL BAG draws even more directly from FD’s military inspirations. Lace-up details reference combat boots, while the form is modeled after bags once attached to motorcycles on the battlefield. The use of leather lends a bold presence, balanced by a refined silhouette.
The MAJOR WALLET is named after a tradition in army infantry units where officers of the rank of Major and above carry a personal secondary weapon. This name evokes a sense of authority and distinctiveness, qualities mirrored in the wallet’s leather construction. Versions featuring lizard and python-inspired patterns are also available.
Another creation, the OFFICER BAG, is inspired by the image of a strong yet elegant female soldier. It features a straight silhouette paired with a curved strap, and its compact form accommodates daily essentials.
Strength, resilience, and movement are recurring themes across FD’s designs. The collections incorporate military elements alongside diverse influences, never confined to a single style or gender.
The designs further explore contrasts such as life and death, strength and vulnerability, and toughness and softness. These dualities emerge in the shapes, materials, and details. FD’s pieces attract those who appreciate bold silhouettes, distinctive details, and garments that defy easy categorization.
For FD, the drive to move forward is as vital as its military inspirations. The result is a collection of clothing, bags, and accessories that reimagines familiar military elements for the world of contemporary fashion.
